Knitting anyone?

In my apartment complex, I have the best neighbors Missy and Bryan. They have become my 'family' and I wouldn't have it any other way. Missy has a job where she works 2 days a week, so needless to say, she has a lot of free time on her hands (unlike me). One day she told me that she likes to knit and I said that I've always wanted to learn but never had someone to teach me. Well, ladies, I've found my guru. She does what is called loom knitting which looks a little something like this:

It's basically a braiding type thing that makes really cool scarfs, socks, mittens, whatever you want! I like this because I haven't learned how to knit and I can still do this (I play on becoming a 'knitter' after the holidays). It might seem silly, but I really enjoy it. It's something I can do if I'm upset, happy, or just want to relax. I don't see myself giving up knitting anytime soon :)

Ramble much?

I love blogging. I don't know why. As of right now, I only have one follower, but who cares, right. . . Oh yeah. ME! I don't do this because I want like 45643343 followers, but it would be nice for me not to feel silly for talking to only one person on a weekly basis.

Anyway. A couple people I know blog (and I'm jealous! One of them has 4 subscribers! can you believe it?!) and I was thinking about how my blog doesn't have character. I just kind of rant and ramble until I say bye. Then I started to feel a little bit sad (well more like sorry for myself) because then my next thought was 'well if my blog has no character, then that means I have no character! I know, the horror right? I feel like I don't give my blog enough of my 'voice' so I promise I'm going to work on that. Promise, promise.

Here is a list of things I've been missing soo sooooo much! :(

Starbucks!

I haven't had starbucks in forever! Literally. The last time I had starbucks was when my uncle came into town from seattle . . . We got coffee every day. He came here back when I graduated so that was in May. I'm sad.

Sushi

No one I know love sushi as much as I do. I could eat it all day long. I'm not joking either! I am obsessed with sushi. I only have mine with soy sauce tho. No icky wasabi. Too hot for me. Ew and I think ginger is gross. nope nope. Soy sauce will do just fine, thank you!

Reading

I love reading, but I haven't had the time. I'm still reading 'Mockingjay' from The Hunger Games trilogy! I started that over a month ago! Normally I would have finished it within 2 weeks at the most.

Zeebra Slipper

I used to be obsessed with zeebra print, but I kind of over did it and got bored with it. Almost everything I had had some type of zebra print on it. My twin got me some zebra slippers one day and I wore them all the time. They were my favorite! Then . . . my evil puppy got a hold of them and ruined them! He didn't bite holes in them, but he slobbered on them so much that they were not salvageable.

Wow, this sounds like I complain a lot. I swear I don't :)

VEGetariAN.

In pervious posts, I have mentioned that I was flirting with being a vegetarian. I want to do this because I love animals and just don't want to be a contributer for abuse anymore. I wanted to do this way back in elementary school but my mom always said no. Of course, what mom says goes, so I had to wait util I was an adult to make this decision.

Back in November, I was head set on not eating meat anymore and gave it up until about the middle of January when my boyfriend got me to eat a delicious steak that he prepared just for me (if you could have seen his face, you would understand). Anyway, I lost my battle with being a vegetarian. It's an incredibally hard thing to do when everyone around you is eating things like bacon and steak (which are my weaknesses).

I've been doing more research and have been occasionally getting what I like to call "veggie hits" where I'll want to not eat meat but then something comes up and I cave in.

My main reason for being a Vegetarian is because this picture is cute but this:

IS NOT!!

*Please understand that I'm in NO way whatsoever trying to sway people's opinions or preech about why it's wrong. These are all my opinions and my viewpoints on animal abuse.*

Today is day 2 of my cold turkey (no pun intended) give up of meat. It's going pretty well. The saying goes that the first 3 days are the hardest . . . Let's see if I can keep it up this time?

First Day

I had the interview yesterday and got hired on as a substitute!! YES! I start work TODAY! I am SO happy! I hope it leads to something more! I am only working for 2 hours today, but it's better than nothing :)

It is TiffanyD's birthday. So in honor of that, I am painting my nails in Nicole by OPI's Light a Candle. A beautiful silver/lavender color. I am in love with this metalic nail color.

I couldnt get a very good swatch of this color, so I got these from
e-polishblog.blogspot.com.

This is a swatch in artificial light.

This is a swatch in the direct sunlight.

I adore this color. I have read some reviews on metalic nail polishes and a lot of people say that they like the polish to not leave brush stroak lines. For some reason, I kinda like it. It feels more edgy to me. I am very happy with this nail color, and about today :)

Back in Boise

I've been back in Boise for about three days and it feels really good to be home. I missed my little TeddyBear so much! He hasn't forgotten his mommy, which made me happy :). Anywho, I got the BEST call of my life today! My old boss Kalena called and asked me if I was still interested in a job. Uhhh, YEAH! So she game the the number of her place and told me that the boss was interested in setting up an interview! YES! I am soo happy, I could scream at the top of my lungs! Let's hope it all goes well!

^^I just like this picture. TOTALLY unrelated :D^^

Candles by Victoria

As I have mentioned before, I don't have a job. So I am just in 'wish list' land until I get a job. I love candles, but I hate the hassle of lighting them and worring about them, which is why I usually use a Scentsy. My only problem with a Scentsy is that they have a strong fragrance, but (at least to me) the fragrance only lasts about 3 hours, or as long as the first burn. I can't smell it afterwards. I have been on a hunt to find a candle that has a strong fragrance that doesn't loose it's frangrance.

I've heard about Candles by Victoria before from TiffanyD (blogspot.com/makeupbytiffanyd) and Elle Fowler (blogspot.com/allthatglitters21) and have done a little research of my own. I want these candles! They sound amazing. If I had to choose 5 top fragrances, they would be:

Peppermint Bark

This scent is described as: A Christmas time favorite but really great anytime of year. Bits of refreshing peppermint weaved inside rich and creamy white chocolate.

What gets me is the white chocolate. I LOVE white chocolate! When I go to Starbucks, I don't usually get coffee. I get a white hot chocolate. No matter what time of year. Definately a great Christmas time fragrance, which you all know that I love :)

Marshmellow Campfire

Just as the name suggests, toasted marshmellows over an open fire.

Growing up, I was the biggest tomboy. I used to wear over-alls with no shirt on until I was 8 years old, and even then it took some convincing. Needless to say, camping was pretty much my favorite thing to do. We would take the dog, and just have a get away for a weekend. One of my most visited campfire memories is when my older sister Shelby and I were roasting marshmellows together. She grabbed my stick from me (yeah, we didn't use metal pokers, we got them and cut them ourselves) and ate my perfectly toatsted marshmellow; almost half of it! I was about 6 at the time, and that just ruined the night for me. I cried until she made me a new one.

Twilight Woods

Inspired by a romantic walk in enchanted woods, Twilight Woods is a complex blend of apricot nectar, mimosa petals and Tuscan cypress.

This is a dupe for Bath&Body Works Twilight Woods. I love that scent. I am usually a vanilla type of person, but when I smelled this scent, I fell in love. I would really enjoy having this scent linger around my house.

Orange Vanilla

The perfect blend of ripe fresh oranges and sweet, smooth vanilla make this one a favorite. Orange Julius fans will love this scent.

This scent reminds me of summer. Dreamsicles are my all time favorite popsicle, so it just makes sence that I would have this candle!

Tiffany-D

TiffanyD on YouTube inspried me to create this wonderful fragrance. Colored light blue like the infamous Tiffany boxes, a beautiful mix of Watermelon, Honeydew Melon, Cotton Candy with a splash of Vanilla.

I love Tiffany! So, it just makes sence that I would want to try out her fragrance. It's perfect because I (obviously) love sweet fragrances! I'm sure this one is going to be great.

Coffeeee!

I have never been a fan of coffee in the morning. I don't know why, but it just does not appeal to me, unless its Starbucks. I usually get hot chocolate there anyway so I guess it doesn't matter. I do love a good cup in the afternoon though. I have been watching Food*Network all day and am in a cooking kick. Jeremiah put steaks out to thaw this morning (he let me sleep in today, such a sweetie) and I am dying to make something special with them. Of course, when i find the PERFECT recipe on the TV they said it too darn fast for me to catch, so I'm just going to let Jeremiah cook the wonderful steaks (they're Yummi Meat steaks. THEY ARE AMAZING!)

Oh and, yes, I did stop being a vegetarian. It's too hard to do while I live in a household that eats nothing but meat, so I might persue it when I am out on my owm, but for now it's a no-go.

this is a website with delicious looking coffee recipes! I am def going to try them out :)

Oreo Brownies

CANNOT WAIT TO TRY THIS!
(abountifulkitchen.blogspot.com)

Oreo Brownies

1 package Oreo cookies, chopped
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup chocolate chips, milk or dark
1 cup vanilla or white chocolate chips
1 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

Preheat oven to 350.

Line an 9 x 13 pan with foil, leaving an overhang of foil around the edges. Lightly grease the pan.

In a large bowl, mix the chopped cookies with the butter. Pour half the mixture into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with the chips, marshmallows, and nuts. Top with the remaining cookie mixture. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top.

Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let cool to room temperature and lift the bars from the pan. Peel back the foil and cut into serving pieces.

Tips:

-I omitted the nuts, partly bc I thought most kids don't love nuts, and partly bc I thought nuts with this combo didn't sound good.
-I used closer to 1 1/2 cups each of choc chips and white chips, and used closer to 2 cups marshmallows total.
-Also, think I would like this better cooked in an 8x8 or 9x9 pan, the brownies were a little on the thin side for me.

ROADTRIP!

I have never been on a road trip before in my life. Weird, I know. So going to Colorado with my beloved Jeremiah was definitely a highlight of my summer. We left Monday night after a quick meeting with his family and my family then we took off. It's a 12 hour drive to Granby, so I told him that since he was driving I would stay up the whole time. Yeah, didn't happen. I did try though. I slept on the road for a half hour then when we pulled over for a quick nap, I napped too. I got some pictures of the trip there.

First we hit Utah, which I have been to before so this was nothing new. I took a picture of the "Welcome to Utah" sign and forgot to turn my night shot on so this is what I got:) It's Utah and that's all that matters.

This is what I woke up to after the glorious nap. Wyoming sunrises are so beautiful. I couldn't get over how pretty the sky was. While in Wyoming, we stopped at a McDonalds (by my request) and got more gas. I wouldn't mind waking up to a beautiful view like this every morning :)

I took this picture on my phone at 80MPH!! I was pretty lucky to have gotten such a good quality picture. So far, Colorado has been amazing! I would love living here. It's the perfect place to relax. Jeremiah let me drive for a little bit, which was fun. He is a great instructor when it comes to things like this. Most people just get mad, but not my Jeremiah. He is so amazing.

Here is my baby after driving for 12+ hours and then having to wake up at 10:15PM to go to work for a 9 hour shift. I feel bad for him, so I'm going to make him a GREAT dinner tonight (I'm typing this while he is sleeping after his shift). Before Jere left, he tucked me in (like I was 5 years old again) and made sure everything was going to be okay. He knows I am not particularly comfortable with sleeping at other peoples houses. He is SO good to me. I wish I could repay him more for all of the things he does for me.

It's beginning to look a lot like christmas??

Yes, I have to say, I am sort of pathetic right now. I am CRAVING Christmas time.. sounds weird I know.. But there is nothing more I want right now than to be sitting next to my Christmas tree reading a book drinking white hot chocolate.. ooh that just sounds heavenly. I am not a fan of being cold, so it is strange that December is my favorite month && that winter is my favorite season. I just love the feeling of being able to do red glittery nails and make sugar cookies for the neighbors. Everyone has time off from school so family can spend quality time together.. It is just so great.

I get this fuzzy feeling around christmas time, I cant really describe it. I just love waking up in the morning around that time of year knowing that my family is here to love me. Also, i find that i am extremely independent during the winter months. My friends all have jobs (except moi) so i am at home a lot of the time during the day. Thats why i started baking because it passes the time and it also helps my family && friends. My family loves to try out my new cakes i come up with :)

Needless to say, I CANNOT wait for this next holiday season. I will be turning 20 on December 31st! woah! and i will be 1/3 of the way done with beauty school!! crazy i know! teddy will be 8 months old . . . they grow up soo fast ;)

D-Day

Today was the day I presentation. It went pretty well. I was still nervous but I think I passed. One of my favorite teachers was on my panel so I think that helped A LOT! I was so nervous tho! I was shaking like a leaf!!! haha. Oh well. It's over!

Afterwords, my friend Niki and I went to the mall (even tho we didn't have any money) and just had fun. I fell in LOVEEE with three things! Omg. First was an adorable Coach bag. I've been wanting to get one for myself for graduation that is timeless. I don't want one that will not match with many outfits and will not get super out of style fast either. The 'C's are more of a gray color than it is shown in the picture. My god. I fell in LOVE! the second I saw it I was head over heels. It's $298, but I think it's definitely worth it :)

The next thing is a boxer puppy :) I LOVEEE boxers. I used to have one named Racheal and she was my baby. I loved her veryyy much and when I move into a house where I can have a dog, my mom said she would buy me one! And I cannnnooootttt wait!
This is the little guy I saw at PetCity. He was very skinny and it was so so sad (I completely disagree with pet shops, but a shelter is no where near the mall).
I named him Ross for my princess Racheal.
He would play around with my hair and bite my ankles, which really hurt. He's got sharpp teeth! He loved me very much! He was $1119, just a wee bit out of my price range ;)

Finally. The third thing. This is a big deal for me because I'm extremely picky when it comes to smells. I stopped by Victoria's Secrete on my way out of the mall and tried out some of their new scents. They had a couple that were okay, but the one that got me sold was the Island Paradise.

It has Coconut water and pineapple. It sounds weird but I swear! It's the best smell on the universe! I HATE coconut and mango so for me to like this is kinda a big deal! I cannot even explain how in love with this scent I am. VS is having a sale this weekend on at least those new scents that are buy 7 get one free. So you get 8 of them for $35. I NEED THIS SMELL! It's a limited edition too :( I hope it makes it out to it's permanent collection.

Well, that was my day. Make up was very neutral and professional. At VS I added some teal under my eyes, which I do all the time! Off to read my Fitness magazine :) loves.

Sunday

Sundays are supposed to be relaxing and lazy.. so that is what I'm doing. I'm going to go take a nice warm bath using my awesome exfoliating scrub, read some Twilight (can you believe I still haven't read them?!), then I'm going to put some laundry away and clean my room. Oh, I also have to practice my senior project speech. Joy.
After my bath and I'm done reading Twilight I'll get ready, maybe. I think I'm going to clean my bathroom while I'm at it because it is not at it's best right now.
I love days like today. They make me feel.. so normal. Not that things aren't normal for me. It's a lot of ME time and I am learning that I enjoy ME time a lot. Don't get me wrong. I don't have ME time all the time, but on Sunday's.. I LOVE it!
This post is random and boring. I'll do a tag one later :) Have a nice Sunday!
