Finger Strength

Like usual, I've been doing a lot of knitting. It's starting to really affect my fingers; I'M GETTING CALLUSES! hahaha. oh well. As long as my fingers are painted, that's all I care about.

What I've been knitting:

Finger-less Gloves! :]

Hand towel :]

Other then knitting those two projects I've been working hard at work and its paying off! Jeremiah and I both got the option to move to a different department where we'd both work the same days and same hours (which is GREAT for our budget) and we'd get 3 days off a week.

Oh, did I mention that moving departments means that we'll be getting a 5% raise? Holla!

This is the most adorable picture of Jere and Charlie <3
Short and sweet blog. Hey, I'm watching 'Pretty Little Liars' :)

June...

apparently June was not a month in my calendar this year. I wasn't even busy, really. Just the usual: knitting, nails, reading, drinking coffee, and working. I've got some FUN projects that I finished!! (Two of them I created and the other one I borrowed).

These two are ones that I just felt the urge to create something and I ADORE them!

My winter cowl!

Close Up
I created the winter cowl from an idea I got online but I decided to change it. After knitting all those dish clothes I was kind of burnt out on them, so I decided to make something to help sooth the Idaho winters. Its one of my absolute favorite colors and in the close up you can see the difference in the two 'heather greys' I picked out. The darker grey was by Red Heart (I don't usually like this brand's colors but this one is an exception) and the lighter grey is a wool from I believe Lion Brand? This cowl was easy to knit; heavy as I got further into it, but a favorite none the less. I'll be wearing this a lot this winter and fall!!

This is NOT supposed to be sideways.

Hey double-chin, How you doin'? :]
I love this cowl!! (I have a think for them, can't you tell ;]). My work is by Michael's and my coworker and I decided to go there on our lunch break. Our lunch is only a half hour so we were in a hurry. We went to the sale section and picked out the skeins that caught our eyes and this is the one I grabbed. It was called 'sombrero' and I know it was a sock weight but I don't remember this yarns' manufacturer's name either... oops.

With the sock weight yarn, I didn't know what to make but I LOVED the colors. It was cold when I got back to work (my work is either hot or cold) so I just grabbed my SIZE 11 NEEDLES and started making this. I'm used to knitting with cotton so this was a big adjustment with the smaller thread. I used the entire skein to finish this and every time I wear it I get compliments. And then I get to brag and tell them I did not buy it anywhere.... but that's a different story. More to come soon, Jeremiah is making breakfast :] YUMMY!

Accomplishment

I am currently typing this in my bathtub with my computer sitting on the ledge.

Weird? Not really.
Unsafe? Completely.

I finished the last of my dishclothes the other day and gave them to Amy this afternoon. It's my last day off this week and I wanted her to get them before she had the baby (she's been having contractions). I drug Jeremiah along with me. As much as he denies it, he loves my nephew Charlie (the current baby). So, I thought I'd get to spend a little quality time with him while he got what he wanted at the same time. Win-win situation.

Anyway. Here is the finished product:

All 8 of my pride and joy's :]

(sorry for the side view. Jeremiah took these)
Binky and a Stroller

Hand print and Moon w/ Stars

Rattle and Saftey Pin

Bottle and Baby Feet

Jeremiah picked out the ribbon :] so proud.

My favorite color is brown.. I had to.

I am so proud of myself for getting these done. It's not that difficult to learn how to knit and once I got started I couldn't stop. I'm now trying to learn how to make my own creations which is basically learning how to use and Excel Spread Sheet and getting started.

Also, I do NOT take ANY credit for creating these dishclothes. I got these from the amazing KrisKnits . She hasn't been using her blog as much, which is perfectly ok because life gets in the way of some things. I completely understand and, although I miss her knitting projects (her blog is what I aspire to be), I CANNOT wait for her return. I paid for these dishclothes and I WILL NOT be distributing them. They belong to Kris, I'm just glad she shared them with the public.

My sister loved these dishclothes that she didn't even want to use them. Her exact words: "Oh, Breanna, these are so cute I just want to hang them up!" I love my sister and her family. I cannot wait for her latest addition to join the world. Only 8 more days!!

And YES, expect a blog post :)

I Thought I'd Post

... considering the fact that I have been moved out of my apartment for about 3 weeks now. I would be VERY shocked if you couldn't guess what I've been doing with my spare time...

1. Knitting (My unnamed nephew is due on May 29th. I'm almost done with my 2nd to last dishcloth for his amazing mama)

2. Drinking Coffee. (Is this really something I have to say that I've been doing?!?)

3. Slowly (but surely) unpacking.

[No picture, I'm sure you don't want to see full-ish boxes...]

Work is getting a little easier. My boss says that I should be able to move up in about 3 months or so which is great. I'm not too concerned since my job isn't that bad anyway.

Jeremiah is already on his way and I'm happy for him! It would have been pretty surprising if I got a promotion before he did considering my job title is Technical Support and he has more experience than I do.

Delano is being Delano. I've been trying to teach him out to shake and he just doesn't get it. It's kinda sad because I think he's such a goofball. He does stupid things all the time. I guess that's all part of being a puppy.

Summer Project

I was stumbeling (stumbleupon.com) and I came across this:

http://carinascraftblog.wardi.dk/2009/06/granny-square-joining-tutorial.html

MY SUMMER PROJECT.

It's a granny square blanket. Which I want for my house. Badly. Badly. BADLY! The only downside is that I don't crochet, I knit. So I'm either gonna have to learn how to crochet or learn how to do this with knitting needles. I bet it's possible.

:)

BTW: I just watched the superbowl because I wanted to watch Glee right after it :D

Good day for me :]

Today has been a great day. Well, actually it's been good since I got home from work which was two hours ago; I've had a great two hours! ;) I came home and finished season two of Friends and painted my nails this beautiful color. It's by Sally Hansen; Complete Salon Manicure collection. It's called Gray by Gray. It's gorgeous. In the bottle it looks like a muted blue grey but in person it's wayy prettier.

The color comes out the same but it's a lot more attention getting than the other blue's I've had. I love it! Also, it has the amazing brush that formes to fit finger nails. Yeah. Amazing!

This picture shows the color as being a LOT more grey than it really is. But then again it is 9:00PM and I don't have access to natural lighting after 5PM thanks to day light savings. :/

This is the best I could get :)

One other thing that made me have a great past 2 hours was what I got in the mail. Any guesses?

Aw yeeeeah!

I'm gonna be better than Mrs. Weasley herself pretty soon :] oooh haha just kidding. That's not possible.

Another Knitting Post

I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't had much of anything to talk about. Honestly. I've been working and knitting. That's it. Literally. Oh and watching Friends :]. I went to Wal-Mart one day and bought knitting needles for about $2 and went to youtube and got to work. Let me tell you, it was not easy for me to grasp the consept of 'casting on'. Good lord that had me frustrated. But now I know the Knit Stitch and how to Pearl! I feel so accomplished. For inspiration, I checked out some knitting blogs and got my heart stolen by this book:

Having just seen Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, I was in need of a HP fix and I found it. The website I found it on said that it was origianlly $14.99 not including shipping. Well, good thing I have my trusty friend Amazon.com. I found a 'Like New' condition of this beauty for $4.95 + $3.99 shipping. So my total was around $8.00 :) YEYY!

MRS WEASLY SWEATERS HERE I COME! :)

Show Me The Way

Where I live it's cold. Worse than cold; FREEZING! Last week the thermometer read 27 degrees IN NOVEMBER! It's been insane. Needless to say, I've been craving some warmth. My neighbor Missy and I have started knitting (which I have mentioned before). This is my first creation.

It's not finished but I can't wait for it to be done! Its a scarf that I'm making for my sister. The college she goes to's colors are silver and gold but she thought they were black and gold when I asked her. Oh well.

This is called Knifty Knitting or Loom Knitting. It's basically knitting for people who don't know how to knit. I'm going to keep working on this and eventually I'm going to learn how to knit for real. I can't wait. I'm so excited.

Another thing I've been craving is Christmas. Big surprise though, right?! So, I painted my nails in a beautiful green.

Show Me The Way by Sinful Colors. Beautiful.

It is a sheer color. Took 3 coats to get this result but I am glad I did. Green for Christmas trees and for when the holiday gets closer I'm going to do candy canes on my nails :)

I love Christmas!

Knitting anyone?

In my apartment complex, I have the best neighbors Missy and Bryan. They have become my 'family' and I wouldn't have it any other way. Missy has a job where she works 2 days a week, so needless to say, she has a lot of free time on her hands (unlike me). One day she told me that she likes to knit and I said that I've always wanted to learn but never had someone to teach me. Well, ladies, I've found my guru. She does what is called loom knitting which looks a little something like this:

It's basically a braiding type thing that makes really cool scarfs, socks, mittens, whatever you want! I like this because I haven't learned how to knit and I can still do this (I play on becoming a 'knitter' after the holidays). It might seem silly, but I really enjoy it. It's something I can do if I'm upset, happy, or just want to relax. I don't see myself giving up knitting anytime soon :)
